Who is Jack?

  • Jack's was established in 1976 and incorporated in 1981.
  • We began as construction siding company but now we have developed into a diversified siding and window contracting company,
  • We are the proud recipients of 3 vinyl siding installation awards given to us by the Vinyl Sidings Institute for the years 1981, 1986 and 1992.

Hi, I’m Jack Klapwyk, president and owner of Jack’s Aluminum Ltd.

Picture
I’d like you to meet our ‘family’. Let me start with myself.
I graduated from high school in the mid-seventies and dabbled in a number of construction trades including framing, carpentry, drywall,  sheet metal work, and siding work. I am happily married to my wife Hieke, and have two adult children, both full time students. My son Cameron has, and continues to work for us part time.  I established Jack’s Aluminum in April 1976, and opened our current warehouse/ showroom at 27 Monarch Rd. In Guelph in 1990. For that first year (1976), I worked alone most of the time, with the part-time help of my younger brother Ed. Eventually Ed became a full time employee, and was soon joined by another full time employee, Bob Pauw. Over the years we have hired and trained dozens of great people but let me introduce to you to our current staff.

Meet my brother, Ed Klapwyk.

Ed has been with us from the very beginning, installing for about a dozen years, before he started doing his own selling and installing. Ed lives in a small country home just outside of Belwood, and although he does a fair amount of work in the Guelph area, he is our main go-to installer for work north of Guelph, in communities like Fergus, Elora, Belwood, Arthur and even as far away as Mount Forest. Ed and his wife Wilma have three adult children who are busy getting married, beginning lives of their own, including producing grandchildren. Ed's son Jamie has worked for us part-time over the years. With over thirty five years of experience under his belt, Ed has seen and done almost every type of siding and window installation you could imagine, from multi-million dollar custom homes to small and large jobs on homes of any age and size. Ed has a good deal of experience building our bay and bow windows, and has a great knack of knowing what to recommend for window and siding work simply because he has seen it all over the years.

And now let’s meet Bob Pauw.

Picture
Bob has been with Jack’s almost as long as Ed. He actually has more experience than Ed, simply because he cut his teeth with another siding company before coming over to Jack’s. Bob lives in Guelph with his wife, Wendy. He has two married daughters, with two grandchildren (so far). Bob is well known by thousands of our clients as being very meticulous, and although all my people are fussy, Bob has a real talent for doing the impossibly tricky installations, and will often redo parts of a job several times, just to get it right. As with Ed, Bob has dealt with well over 3000 clients and practically every type of siding and window job that you can imagine, and will tackle almost every type of job with the same enthusiasm as he did when he sold his first job over twenty years ago.

And then let’s meet Jim Hogeveen.

Picture
I always joke that Jim is our rookie.  Of our three salesman/installers, Jim actually is our least experienced, even though he has about 30 years with us and selling and installing for us for over 20 years. Jim and his wife Lisa live in a country home between Guelph and Cambridge with their four children. Their oldest son Brandon has worked for us part time as a summer labourer, for the past few years. Jim grew up in the Caledonia, Jarvis area and moved to Guelph many years ago to work for us full time. Although Jim is fully experienced in every aspect of the window and siding business, his unique talent is working with copper. Jim has worked with copper a good deal over the years, and is the perfect person to go to put a copper roof over a bay or bow window, or for installing copper eavestrough and custom copper flashings. And just like my other two installers Jim will bend over backwards to keep his customers happy, and he has a real talent of treating every customer like a good friend, and he never fails to get at least one referral from every client he works for.

And finally let’s meet our full time labourer Derek Stronks.

Picture
Derek has worked with us for over three years now. Derek is single and has just purchased a condo here in Guelph. Derek has joined us fresh out of college, and as a matter of fact, he is the most educated of all my employees. Derek goes from job to job, setting up scaffolding, helping with eavestrough, window, and siding installations and generally ends up at whatever jobsite he is needed at the most.  One of the main reasons for our surprisingly reasonable prices is because of our system of using Derek as a labourer very efficiently.  It is not unusual for Derek to end up at three or four jobsites in a single day. That streamlined system makes us very cost effective.

And there you have it. People do ask me “what exactly do you do Jack?”  Well in a nutshell I do everything but sell and install. That would include handling deliveries, picking up product, stocking the warehouse, assist in scheduling, and dealing with about a dozen suppliers. My job includes researching new products and suppliers, pricing, doing payroll, bookkeeping, marketing and planning. And it is also my job to purchase and look after our tools, equipment, and vehicles, and I am responsible for customer service although my installers will warranty everything they install.

As you can see, the Jack’s Aluminum family is like a small ‘well oiled’ machine. If you need new windows or siding, call us, we’d love to meet you.
